The Fragility of Being
This work is based on the idea that reality is an ambivalent structure, a mental frontier between things. An undefined border separating concrete and elusive fields, materiality and the invisible. It’s also a way to describe in a poetical way, our soul’s inner struggle between peace and animality, between light and darkness.
“In quest of finding what is real and what is “not” I found myself in a place where there is a lot of grey, an undefined space on raw infinite subconscious which appears and disappears simultaneously and mysteriously.” The images contain a kind of phantasmagoria, some elusive whimsical thoughts which resembles like a half remembered dream from a distant space and a different time. Fragility of being is an objection to the interpretation of reality communicated by the society and media as photographic truth .
The work doesn’t talk about reality; nor truth. Rather, follows a photographic tradition that privileges the lack of interest for realistic composition, and a favor for the breach of what rules it. Probably, a possible truth is reached only when it is rejected.
From a narrative standpoint, it is a sort of storyboard, The actual intention behind the work may be explained as I put the photographs in a sequence that is almost a movie. Here the pictures are frames of a movie that has never been made, and even if it had been made, it would be cut into isolated scenes, from each of which I selected a photograph...
