It makes us aware of the craft sector holistically in the larger socio cultural context, in terms of community, culture, location, environment, religious beliefs, and people and living. It also enables us to develop a keen insight about the craft and to visualize it in a contemporary scenario.Where endangered crafts are concerned, it particularly becomes important because of various threats posed on it and hence its question of sustenance. These crafts are an embodiment of aspects beyond the boundaries of functionality. Documenting such a work ensures that a priceless heritage is recorded for posterity.
